The so-called “Monsanto Protection Act” included in H.R. 933 gives the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) the power to override judicial review and grant biotechnology companies temporary permission to cultivate their products. The provision is a feather in the cap of an industry that is facing ongoing public scrutiny and protest.
